S7 Coding 3D Worlds
Stage 7 – Games and immersive experiences
In this unit, learners will develop their understanding of coding in a 3D space whilst exploring fundamental programming concepts. The key programming concepts are sequence, repetition, selection, and flag variables. They become familiar with X, Y, Z and how to navigate through a 3D space. They learn specific game mechanics such as movement and collecting objects. They also explore typical game engine features such as particle effects, animations, and glow effects. They begin to understand physics engines and how these are used to simulate real world physics in a 3D environment. All this takes place through the creation of a series of carefully scaffolded projects. The final lesson culminates in learners revisiting and reusing a chosen project and adapting it to make it their own.
Each lesson includes:
- direct-to-learner videos
- slide decks
- lesson plans
- vocabulary sheets
