S6 Coding 3D Worlds
Stage 6 – Variables and games systems
In this unit, learners will create a range of interactive 3D games and experiences whilst developing their understanding of variables and how they can be used to control gameplay. They will learn to use sensible variable names, create new variables, and use counter variables to track events and values within a game. Learners will explore camera controls, player movement, vehicle mechanics, item collection, and game upgrades, building increasingly complex projects as the unit progresses. Through creating cutscenes, collectable games, and a tycoon-style game, they will see how variables help games respond to player actions and change over time. The unit concludes with learners extending and personalising a project, encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and the reuse of existing code to create something unique.
