S4 Coding 3D Worlds

Stage 4 – Animating and repeating worlds

In this unit, learners will build on their understanding of programming by exploring different ways that instructions can be repeated within a 3D world. They begin by revisiting sequence before using repetition to create animations, movement, and visual effects in Flock XR. Learners discover how looping can be used to make objects glide and rotate repeatedly, before progressing to forever loops and repeat loops to create interactive projects such as a lava floor effect and a coin drop game. Along the way, they explore concepts such as physics, materials, randomisation, and events, while developing their confidence in creating and modifying code. The unit concludes with learners reusing and improving an existing project, encouraging them to personalise their work, experiment with new ideas, and recognise that programmers often build upon and adapt existing code to create something new.
